Patrick Sylvester


Patrick Sylvester is the Chief Executive Officer of Banister International. Patrick leads Banister’s executive retained search practice, its outsourced human capital solutions practice, and chairs the Global Business Development Committee.

A graduate of the Wharton School of Business, Patrick earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics with concentrations in Finance and Entrepreneurial Management. He began his professional career as a United States Naval Officer. In 1993, Patrick joined CDI. Following his success there, he moved on to head the newly created global retained executive search firm Banister International.

Under Patrick’s leadership, Banister rapidly grew into an internationally respected search and consulting organization with offices in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. Patrick acquired Banister from CDI Corporation in July 2003. Under Patrick’s direction, Banister has provided client-oriented solutions to a host of Fortune 500 companies for more than a decade. Among Banister’s past and current clients are Home Depot, Comcast, Bank of America, Cigna, ConAgra, and Deloitte. Banister has helped build world-class sales, operations and general management teams for clients spanning myriad industries and sectors, with Patrick at the helm of many of the firm’s key searches for exceptional talent. Patrick has been instrumental in bolstering the Banister business by partnering with world class human resources executives who he works with on an ongoing basis. In addition, Patrick has worked alongside key leadership team members at client firms to facilitate organizational transformation and consulted on how to best position the company brand so as to attract the highest levels of talent. Patrick’s ability to easily identify client needs and exceed expectations has helped him build a solid track record of recruitment projects and senior level search assignments. Patrick’s pioneering vision and dedication to delivering quality talent and customized solutions to clients is evident from Banister’s continued growth and its current expansion.

Patrick travels extensively and is a private pilot. He lives in Chicago and Philadelphia with his three children.
